Atrius Health Participates in Tobacco Free Mass Lobby Day

Representatives from Atrius Health, including Dr. Dan Slater, Chief of Pediatrics, recently joined a large contingency of members from Tobacco Free Mass at the State House for Advocacy Day. The group is urging the passage of legislation that would impose stricter controls of tobacco products in Massachusetts – specifically House Bill 2864 and Senate Bill 1218, “An Act to protect youth from the health risks of tobacco and nicotine addiction.”

Massachusetts Attorney General Takes on E-Cigarettes

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healy recently held a public hearing on proposed regulations that would take on the alarming increase of so-called “e-cigarettes” in the state by treating electronic devices used to deliver nicotine like cigarettes.  Free samples of nicotine vapor products would be banned, child-proof packaging on nicotine liquids would be mandatory, a minimum purchase age of 18 would be put in place, and retail stores would be required to keep the products behind the counter at stores.
