As of May 21, 2014, all commercial drivers are required to have a physical exam performed by a Department of Transportation (DOT) Certified Medical Examiner. A routine physical performed by your primary care provider is no longer acceptable to meet DOT requirements.
A DOT physical can be completed in 40 minutes and is valid for up to 24 months. The exam includes:
Please note the examiner may issue a medical examiner’s certificate for less than 24 months when it may be appropriate to monitor a condition, such as high blood pressure. The exam fee is $85.
